Milan | Italy

I know it's been a while since my last post but I'm now back with a bang with some amazing posts for you all. As I have had a lot of spare time I have been using it travelling and my latest conquest was Milan, Italy. I went with two of my best friends Anisha and Mittie who also brought along two other friends. Once again it well was documented throughout Snapchat and as I recently gained a Nikon D3200 DSLR camera for my birthday I have been utilising that aswell.
Wednesday 28th October
It was an early start as I was driving us down to Stansted airport to park and get a shuttle to departures. We flew with Ryanair as we got a cheap deal with them (flight only) and booked our accomodation (Ibis Milano Centro) seperately through expedia. Overall it was working out to be a cheap 4 days away.
Once we landed in Milan (Bergamo airport) we had already pre booked a shuttle to the city centre which was just a short walk from where we were staying. We checked in around 1/2 o clock in the afternoon and settled into our rooms before venturing out. As there was three of us sharing a room luckily it was quite spacious, clean and very pleasant. I would definitely stay here again if I came back to Milan and recommend it to other people.
After we had settled in we caught the metro and travelled to Duomo area to do a quick sight see and shopping. We saw a lot of the big names such as Prada and Louis Vuitton. Even though the exchange rate made it cheaper than buying it in British Pounds, my bank balance still didn't reach that far to buy anything - but don't worry, next time! Seeing as window shopping took a lot out of us, we decided to go for a late lunch and coffee at a small cafe down the road. The food was lovely and sold tasty traditional italian food.
Then after a quick nap and a change of outfits we went out for food and cocktails at Martini | Dolce & Gabbana. It is an upmarket bar/restaurant next door to the designer shop D&G, with this branding you can imagine the prices were going to be high. However the decor, cocktails and food did live up to the expectations and were beautifully presented. A good start to the holiday!

Thursday 29th October
Milan is such a beautiful city that we just had to walk around and look at the buildings and all the architecture. Obviously sight seeing takes a lot out of you so it was time for a spot of lunch which consisted of waffles and crepes. After lunch we had pre-bookoed a theater tour at Theatre de scalla. I must admit it did drag on for a bit but it was interesting learning about the plays at the theatre and how it all started. As we pretty much walked everywhere it was time to go back to the hotel and have a nap before dinner (Naps are essential on holidays lol). As we were in italy we wanted to go to a home made italian restaurant that was really authentic to its culture. So we had a look on trip adviser and found a restaurant called Il caminetto which was just around the corner from our hotel so that was pretty handy. Trip adviser didn't lie to us either and it lived up to our expectations of authentican italian food. The staff were lovely and friendly and made us feel right at home by coming to sit with us and having a little chat.
For our evening entertainment we done some more research and found a good club called 'The Club' which I think was previously known as Club Milano. This is a good club for 18-25 age range as it attracts a lot of erasumus students on this night and plays a lot of club/chart music that everyone knows. It is opened to 6am but we couldn't hold out that long in heels so we called it an early night as we had another tour booked for the next day.

Friday 30th October
So the plan for the Friday was to go on a last supper tour to see the painting in the cathedral, but I guess the effects from the night before took a toll on us more than we thought because we got up realy late and by the time we reached the meeting point it was too late to go inside :( So we missed our slot. Since we were already out and about and didn't have time for breakfast we decided that we would get a late lunch at Fleur Cafe which was just down the road. I just got something simple (a salami baguette) but it was very tasty and filing so done the job.
It was just the three of us that had gone out so as we had a bit of time before we met up with the other two we decided that we would go back to the duomo area and do some more shopping and have a look around at anything that we may have missed before. To be honest it was just a really chilled and relaxng day before we went out again in the evening.
For our last evening in Milan we decided to be all upmarket again and go to an italian sushi restaurant called Nobu | Armani, which is a restaurant/bar/club associated to the designer store that was next door (armani). The restaurant was split into three floors: ground floor is the bar/club area, 1st floor is the restaurant/bar area and the 2nd floor is also the restaurant area. It was spacious and well spaced out with beautiful decor. The food was amazing aswell, definitely a good end to the holiday. I mainly indulged in the sushi dishes as I had enough italian dishes throughout the week but I was very impressed and with the price tag that was attached with it, it's a good thing the food was good (lol). After dinner they gave us a pass to gain access to the bar/club that was downstairs. It was sectioned into small VIP areas where you can choose to sit and have drinks prepared on the table or you can stand infront of the DJ booth and have a bit of a boogie!

Saturday 31st October
Not a lot happened on the Saturday, it was pretty much just filled with travelling. We checked out around 12pm and then relaxed in the lobby for a while before we decided what to do next. We had to get our shuttle back to the airport around 3 so we went to get some lunch along the way at a restaurant we saw on arrival. This wasn't the best meal I had all week but at least it kept me going for a while.
After lunch we took the shuttle back to the airport which takes approx. an hour so pretty bearable. As we had got to the airport quite early we had enough time to browse through duty free for the last minute shopping. I was quite sensible with my money so I got myself was a pandora charm for my bracelet of a passport. It is just something as a memory of all my holidays that I have been on and the experiences that I have.
Before you knew it , it was then time to board the pland and embark on our journey back to London...

Overall
I had a wonderul time in Milan, I know it may look or seem like all I done out there was eat (not entirely a lie) but I did enjoy my experiences sight seeing and learning about the culture. As Milan is a fashion capital the shopping over there is fairly expensive so if you plan to go out there, go with a budget in mind and stick to it. Even the taxi's can be quite expensive but if theres a group of you, get a large taxi and split the costs between you all and it works out a lot cheaper but throughout the day you can get the metro which connects you all over and is very quick and reliable. An extended weekend away is more than enough to see everything aswell so you dont have to overstay your welcome!

Enjoy!
