8TH FEBRUARY 2016

Grand Sapphire

I enjoyed staying at Grand Sapphire it was something different to where I usually stay so somewhat a breath of fresh air. It is so grandly decorated you feel like you have stepped into  Bollywood movie, with the rich deep tones and gold decor.

Grand Sapphire is located at 45 Imperial Way, Croydon, Greater London CR0 4RR. It's not something that I would have noticed just driving by as it is located on a side street hidden behind another hotel. From the outside it doesn't look that spectacular but once you walk inside you will soon change your mind.

I was walmly greated by the staff who was very informative about the hotel and what it has to offer. I was then taken up to my room and shown around. I thought this was a nice touch as I have never been greeted in this way before.

The corridors and bedroom is just as grandly decorated as the lobby area. Whoever designed this definitely wanted to go all out. Once again the standard amenities were available in the room; TV, tea & coffee making facilities and a hair dryer.

Once again the bed was very minimalistic, white sheets and pillowcases. Ithink this worked well because of the colour feature wall behind it, also the beautiful headboard aswell.

The standard amenities; tv, tea & coffee facilities and a hairdryer. Then on one side of the room, instead of a wardrobe, it looked like a cut out section of the wall that hada hanging rail. This was a nice design as you get to see all your choices of clothes but yet still have it tucked away out of sight so the room doesn't look clustered.

The only thing that was missing in the bedroom was a large or full length mirror! The only mirror was in the bathroom but I mean where was I suppsed to take my full length selfie? (haha).

The bathroom wasalso very nicely decorated with its two-tone tiles with bubble patterns on them. There were no toiletries in the bathroom however a bar of soap and shampoo were left on the towels on the bed to use complimentary. The mirrot on the wall also had a contractable vanity mirror alongside it which I thought was very handy.

The small touches in the bathroom are what attract me the most. The golden looking bin in the corner, toilet roll holder/cover on the wall and even the shape of the toilet all made it look contemporary and modern. The final touch was the shower heads. First of all there was two and one of them was shaped like a rainfall so it fall from right above.

Lastly, the item which I have never seen in a hotel room until then was a bathroom scale. I'munsure to whether this is a good or bad thing to have because I rarely check my weight but I guess it can be good to have and handy for travellers that may need to check the weight of their luggage before a flight.

Overall, my stay at Grand Sapphire was pleasant. The facilities were lovely and the staff were friendly. The only downside about this hhotel is that it doesn't offer late checkout. I know to some this may not be an issue but for travellers like myself when you arrive at the hotel late/early in the morning at 4/5am and have to be out the room by 11am, you don't always get the best nights sleep.

If you did want to stay longer than 11am then this meant having to be charged another nights rate which was not worth it.

The hotel did come with breakfast included however I did not even get to try this due to the coming in late at night and having to be up early (a girl needs her beauty sleep).
