Rio de Janeiro | Brazil Pt 2.
After resting on that first night from that long journey I felt refreshed and ready for breakfast the next morning. There was a wide range to choose from at breakfast at the hotel restaurant. It was buffet style so you coul have fresh fruit, yoghurt, cereal for your cold selection and tomato, eggs and sausages as part of your hot selection. You even had a choice of waffles and omlettes being made in front of you at your request with a selectopn of different pastries, teas and coffees!

I was meant to go on my sight seeing trip on the saturday as I would have most of the day to utilise however it was too late to plan anything so that was arranged for the Sunday. Instead we made a trip to Copacabana beach and spent the day relaxing and eating. It did start to rain but that didn't last lon and the sun was back out at it's finest.
Starters: Fig tarte tatin and red onion parcel on goat's cheese cream with parsley cress, pine nuts and cassis dressing

There was so much going on the beach from volleyball to football and the vendors that go around selling items from clothes, food and drink. I even bought my corcovada wrap from one of them as I fell inlove with it as it was so wonderful with all it's colours.
After the sun was starting to set and we could no longer soak up the rays we then made our way back to the hotel room to get dressed and ready for dinner. However, the hotel had a power cut so the rooms were left in darkness and even cut off the water so I couldnt shower or see to get dressed. Every time we called down to reception they kept telling us it would be back on soon however it didn't come back on until the next morning. So I missed out on a good night out sadly. Not to worry as I made up for it the next day on my tour.

Mains: Roasted honey-glazed Gressingham breast of duck with citrus and star anise sauce, creamy mashed potatoes and caramelised fennel

Dessert: Fresh fruit
When we finally landed in Rio it was about a 45 minute drive to get to the hotel which was Sheraton Barra Rio De Janeiro. The hotel was in a really nice area (Barra da Tijuca) and right opposite the beach!

I woke up on the Sunday morning ready for another good breakfast and a wonderful sunny day, however as much as the breakfast lived up to my expectations again the weather wasn't cooperating as well as the day before. It was bright but there was loads of clouds and it was so overcast. My mum was trying to be optimistic and assumed by the time we got to the top of the mountain it would have cleared away and we could see the corcovada clearly.
However, that wasn't the case, it was so cloudy that you couldn't see the view at the top and you had to wait every so often for the clouds to pass to get a decent picture. I managed to get a few though so it wasn't a complete loss.

After getting my pictures of the corcovada my next stop was sugar loaf mountain. Which if I am correct is named after a type of bread that they used to make back in the day and the shape of the mountain reminded them of the shape of the bread (lol). So we went up in cable cars and done a bit of sight seeing at the top. The view was lovely from the top as the clouds were not as low down from there. There were a few shops and cafes there (including the haviana store) so I managed to buy myself a new pair :)
The rest of the day was spent by the pool at the hotel eating (fresh coconuts - my fave) and relaxing and soaking up the last bit of sun while it lasted as I was flying back to London that evening. Once again I occupied myself through the flight with more food and films.
My time in Brazil was short but sweet but I enjoyed the time that I spent there and if I had the opportunity to go again it would have to be for longer so I can go and see more places as I feel there was so much more that I didn't get a chance to see!!
Enjoy!
