Rio de Janeiro | Brazil Pt 1.

It's been a while since I came back from brazil so I thought it was about time that I shared my experience with you all and show a few pictures. Most of them were up on my snapchat as usually but the ones that didnt make the cut will be showcased here.

All the pictures were taken on my phone so sorry if they are not as good quality as usual. Only I would take my DSLR camera half way across the world and forget to put my memory card in it *sigh*. So I had to work with what I had.

So on the 11th April I made my 12 hour journey to Rio de Janerio. It was a long flight so I occupied myself with many films, programmes and of course food. Luckily as my mum works for the airline and was working on that flight I was upgraded to first class to enjoy the long journey.

Starters: Fig tarte tatin and red onion parcel on goat's cheese cream with parsley cress, pine nuts and cassis dressing

Mains: Wild mushroom arancini, marinated roasted baby vegetables, butternut squash puree and whole-grain mustard dressing with pistachio crumble

Desserts: Rhubarb and strawberry crumble with creme anglaise

As the flight was so long there were two meal rounds (of course I was happy about this) so I was well fed and rested before we landed that evening.

Starters: Poached lobster timbale with avocado, creme fraiche, chives and pickled cucumber

Mains: Roasted honey-glazed Gressingham breast of duck with citrus and star anise sauce, creamy mashed potatoes and caramelised fennel

Dessert: Fresh fruit

When we finally landed in Rio it was about a 45 minute drive to get to the hotel which was Sheraton Barra Rio De Janeiro. The hotel was in a really nice area (Barra da Tijuca) and right opposite the beach!

When we finally landed in Rio it was about a 45 minute drive to get to the hotel which was Sheraton Barra Rio De Janeiro. The hotel was in a really nice area (Barra da Tijuca) and right opposite the beach! There was a spa, gym and pool facilities that were available to use but I didn't have time to utilise everything. The general stay at the hotel was decent, the only problem that we came across was on my on the saturday night there was a powercut that lasted all night. They only had a generator to light the reception area and some of the corridors, this wasn't good as it even cut off the water supply.

The rooms were very spacious and favoured mini suites with a living area, kitchenette equipped with mini fridge, kettle and microwave.

Stay tuned for my next post which will how what I done on my tour and the rest of my trip.

Enjoy!
